What's the best flooring for South Florida's humidity?
Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is the top performer in South Florida — it's 100% waterproof, dimensionally stable despite AC cycling, and doesn't expand or contract with humidity changes. Porcelain tile is equally excellent. Solid hardwood is not recommended for below-grade or slab installs without a serious moisture mitigation system.
Can I install hardwood over a concrete slab in Florida?
Yes, but it requires engineered hardwood (not solid) and a proper moisture barrier/adhesive system. We perform a moisture test on every slab before installation. If moisture levels are too high, we recommend LVP or tile instead. We'll never install hardwood over a wet slab — we've seen what happens when others do.
How long does flooring installation take?
A single room is typically done in one day. A whole house (1,500–2,500 sq ft) runs 2–4 days depending on layout complexity. Tile installations add 1–2 days for grout cure time. We give you a firm schedule before work begins.
Do I need to move my furniture before installation?
We recommend having furniture moved before our crew arrives. We offer furniture-moving service for an additional fee if needed. Heavy items like pianos, pool tables, and built-in cabinetry are coordinated separately.
Do flooring installations require permits in South Florida?
Flooring installation (replacing like-for-like without structural changes) does not typically require a permit in Miami-Dade or Broward. Projects involving subfloor replacement, radiant heat systems, or changes to floor height may trigger permit requirements — we'll advise you on your specific project.
